How to Care for Your Pool After a Monsoon in Arizona
Arizona monsoon pool care is different than in other areas of the country that aren’t prone to monsoons and the dust storms that go hand in hand with them. Let Matt’s Pool Services take care of your investment and ensure you get through the storms in great shape with healthy, balanced water!
Monsoons don’t only blow leaves and dirt into the pool, it can also throw off your water chemistry in a hurry. We recommend taking these steps after the storm passes to ensure your pool is safe to swim in.
Remove all large debris such as leaves, sticks, and lawn furniture.
Clean out the skimmer basket and pump basket to ensure good water flow.
Inspect the equipment for proper function. With haboobs in our region, the dust can bog down the filter so the filter will need to be cleaned.
The pool will most likely need to be hand vacuumed in order to remove organic material such as pollen, dust, and dirt along with small leaves. Debris such as these can throw off water chemistry and introduce phosphates.
After vacuuming, inspect filter pressure to be sure the pressure is still within proper range. Back wash filters if your system permits.
Make sure your pool water level is not too high so that your skimmer can function properly. If too high, it not pull debris off the surface of the water.
Test water chemistry to make sure every parameter is within range. Our local rain water has a high PH and will effect your pool water which can push it into unsafe territory.
Shock the pool with a liquid or granular chlorine to ensure the pool is sanitized.
Let Matt’s Pool Services do your storm clean up for you to get your pool back to being swim ready in no time!
