How To Know If You Need a Chlorine or Acid Wash
As a pool owner, it may be hard to determine if/when you need a chlorine or acid wash. The temperatures in Arizona are quickly coming to a rise which means so is the cut off time of being able to do a chlorine or acid wash. It’s not safe for the structural integrity of your pool to drain in the heat of summer. Typically, it is not safe to drain a plaster pool above 80 degrees and a Pebble Tec pool above 90 degrees. Our job here at Matt’s Pool Services is to help you identify if you need one done and schedule it accordingly before the Summer season.
Chlorine Wash
If your pool has any algae growth or organic discoloration, it is time for a chlorine wash. Keep in mind, this won’t remove any stains on the pool surface. We use several gallons of liquid chlorine which we pour onto the pool walls and bottom, we then scrub the entire pool to ensure we kill all contamination of organic spores.
Acid Wash
If your pool has staining on the pool surface, it is time for an acid wash. In order to do an acid wash, we first do a chlorine wash to ensure all organic compounds are killed and removed. We then use a mixture of acid to coat the pool surface in order to remove a thin layer of it resulting in a much brighter, newer looking pool. It is however not a guarantee to clear up deep stains in the pool surface.
